Characteristics

You wanted it so much and we really took our time. Because inventing the perfect mortar, or better said crusher, is not easy. Introducing our first grinder that will finally grind all kinds of Kampot pepper and become a one-stop helper for everything!

What is innovative? It is the opposite of huge mortars for the kitchen. It is only 10 cm, it fits exactly in the palm of your hand and instead of a classic pestle it has a wonderful ergonomic handle that prevents the pepper from "flying" out of the mortar. However, thanks to high-quality cast iron and acacia wood, it is strong and heavy and can handle crushing even on the table. It has smart rubber grooves on the bottom that will literally stick the mortar to any surface!

It was made for us by the Danish CrushGrind® - so it is based on the same quality, design and tradition as all our grinders. He loves Kampot pepper, but also all kinds of spices, just avoid salt, which does not like cast iron. The design is inspired by Asia and is very minimalistic to suit both classic and modern kitchens.

Grinding mechanism

You can use the mortar for Kampot pepper, spices and herbs, if you decide to use salt as well, wash and treat the mortar properly after use, otherwise it could rust!

Maintenance

Cast iron is dimensionally stable and resistant to mechanical damage. With proper care, a quality cast iron mortar will last for several generations. Before the first use, it is advisable to wash the mortar with a sponge in hot water, but without using detergents. Dry the washed mortar well, rub it with edible oil, heat it and then wipe it with a paper towel. We can repeat this process again. The mortar will then be ready for first use. It is completely inappropriate to wash the mortar in the dishwasher. The detergent would get into the pores and "spoil" the taste of the food. For this reason, do not use any detergents. Cast iron cookware does not contain any chemicals and is non-stick.
